Raiders Coach Klint Kubiak Weighs Quarterback Change After Fourth Straight Loss

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has indicated that the team is contemplating significant changes, potentially including a quarterback switch, after suffering their fourth consecutive loss of the season.

The Raiders fell to the Rams 35-21 on Sunday, a result that has intensified calls from fans for No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza to replace veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Following the game, Kubiak suggested that "everything" would be evaluated before the team's next outing. "We have to go watch the film," Kubiak told reporters. "I think at this point, we're thinking about everything to fix our problems, how to fix our issues in the red zone, in the third quarter, personnel [and] scheme."

Cousins, who joined Las Vegas in April, stated his willingness to step aside if it would improve the team's chances of winning. "I want the football team to have the best chance to win games," Cousins said. "[During] the first OTA [practice], if that had become apparent, I would've been the first one to say, 'Yeah, you can't play me.'"

Despite the team's recent struggles, Cousins leads the NFL with 16 passing touchdowns this season, accumulating 1,877 yards and five interceptions. Against the Rams, he completed 295 yards and two touchdowns, though he faced pressure 19 times from the opposing defense.

Mendoza, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, has had limited action this season, completing six of his eight pass attempts for 48 yards in a brief appearance in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.

The Raiders' performance issues are not confined to the quarterback position, with the defense also surrendering 386 total yards in their recent game against the Rams.
