Emma Raducanu has been forced to withdraw from Wimbledon on the eve of the tournament, citing a leg injury. The decision represents another significant setback for the British tennis player, whose career has been hampered by a series of physical issues since her

US Open victory. Raducanu had delayed making a decision about her participation until the last moment, wanting to compete at her home Grand Slam. However, she ultimately decided to follow medical advice.

This withdrawal comes after a period of persistent injury problems. Bone bruising on her right foot concluded her 2025 season in October and impacted her off-season training. Following her run to the Transylvanian Open final in February, she contracted a viral illness, limiting her to only six matches between February and the recent Queen's tournament.

Despite reaching the Queen's final, which had instilled renewed confidence and optimism for Wimbledon, her body has once again intervened. Raducanu had previously reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2021 and 2024.

Last month at the French Open, Raducanu emotionally admitted the difficulty of maintaining a positive mindset amidst her ongoing injury struggles. She emphasized the importance of her support system, stating, "I have great people around me. I have amazing support from my team, from my family, from my friends. It means a lot." She added that being surrounded by positive influences helps her through challenging times.
