Emma Raducanu will not compete in the upcoming U.S. Open as she continues her recovery from a stress fracture in her lower leg.

The decision was made after consultations with her medical team, according to multiple reports. The injury has significantly limited Raducanu's on-court time leading up to the tournament.

This latest setback follows a period of disruption for the 23-year-old tennis star. She was also forced to withdraw from Wimbledon earlier this summer, having been seen in a walking boot in the preceding week. Raducanu had initially planned to participate in Wimbledon but ultimately skipped the event.

Her preseason training was impacted by a foot injury, and she was sidelined for two and a half months due to a post-viral illness that began in February. Raducanu did return to the court towards the end of the clay season and reached the final of the HSBC Championships in June, her first final since winning the U.S. Open in 2021. However, that run exacerbated the lower-leg fracture that has been ailing her.

Raducanu has been undergoing rehabilitation, including time spent at Suvretta House in Switzerland. She recently shared an update on Instagram, describing her break as "Best reset ever!!" accompanied by photos and a video of her in a boot on a tennis court.

The first round of the U.S. Open is scheduled to begin on August 30.
