Prosper’s Aerial Feat Falls Short Against NXT Champion Waller
EK Prosper delivered a stunning maneuver but ultimately failed to capture the NXT Championship from Grayson Waller.
WWE NXT star EK Prosper challenged NXT Champion Grayson Waller on Tuesday, showcasing a high-flying maneuver that went viral across social media, but could not secure the title.
Prosper had Waller positioned on the announce table and executed a backflip from the middle rope onto his opponent. The move drew a significant reaction from the crowd at the WWE Performance Center.
Despite the impressive aerial display, Waller, described as a savvy veteran, recovered and proceeded to hit the Waller Effect to retain his championship. Prosper’s moment garnered attention online, but Waller maintained his hold on the title.
Waller has held the NXT Championship for approximately one month, having won it in a fatal four-way match at Heatwave in August against Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. He was originally scheduled to face Mason Rook for the title, but Rook was deemed medically unable to compete.
Following Rook's withdrawal, NXT’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative, Shawn Michaels, announced an open challenge for the championship. Michaels had reportedly hoped for notable wrestlers like A.J. Styles or CM Punk to answer the challenge.
Prosper ultimately answered the open challenge and engaged in a competitive match with Waller, though the championship remained with the incumbent.
