The Premier League will announce its Christmas fixture schedule today, responding to pressure from top-flight clubs seeking an earlier confirmation for fans. Manchester United was among the clubs that urged the league and broadcasters to release the timings sooner, allowing supporters more time to plan travel and minimize disruption.
The announcement comes more than a month ahead of last season's schedule release. While all fixtures are initially listed for Saturday 3 p.m., they are subject to change based on broadcaster selections.
United officials met with Premier League and broadcaster representatives to advocate for match-going fans, requesting earlier decisions on December scheduling to facilitate easier travel arrangements. The Football Supporters Association also reportedly participated in discussions.
Last season, the festive fixture schedule was announced on October 31, later than the originally intended October 15. This delay was attributed to calendar pressures from expanded UEFA competitions, which resulted in only one match, Manchester United versus Newcastle United, being scheduled for Boxing Day (December 26) with an 8 p.m. kick-off.
With Boxing Day falling on a Saturday this year, it is anticipated that multiple top-flight matches will be scheduled. Sources indicate that the fixture timings will be made public this afternoon.
