PGA Tour player Trey Mullinax has been suspended for six months following a violation of the Tour’s anti-doping policy, the organization announced Wednesday.

Mullinax tested positive for a substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency, according to the Tour. He will be eligible to return to competition on Jan. 16, 2027.

The Tour stated that Mullinax fully cooperated with the investigation and accepted the suspension. In a statement, Mullinax acknowledged using medication to treat a condition diagnosed during his college years but admitted to not obtaining prior approval under the Tour’s anti-doping policy.

"I take full responsibility for what happened. My lack of knowledge is not an excuse," Mullinax said in a statement provided by the Tour. He also clarified that he never intentionally used any substance to gain a competitive advantage, stating, "Anyone who knows me knows how much I respect this game and the values it represents."

Mullinax, 34, plans to use the suspension as a learning experience. He has competed in three events on the PGA and Korn Ferry tours this season, missing the cut in all of them. He is currently ranked 544th in the world.

Mullinax earned his sole PGA Tour victory at the 2022 Barbasol Championship and has two career Korn Ferry Tour wins. He joins a list of golfers previously disciplined under the PGA Tour’s anti-doping policy, including Doug Barron, Scott Stallings, Bhavik Patel, and Brad Fritsch.
