Patriots Running Back TreVeyon Henderson Suffers Ankle Sprain, Faces Multiple Weeks Out
The injury marks another setback for Henderson, who has struggled with health since entering the league.

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson sustained a high-ankle sprain during the team's Week 5 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN.
While the exact timeline for his return is not yet known, Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks. However, sources indicate that he will not require surgery and could potentially return sooner than anticipated.
This latest injury adds to an already injury-plagued start for Henderson. He previously dealt with a Grade 1 ankle sprain during training camp that sidelined him for multiple weeks and caused him to miss the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. It remains unclear if this new injury affects the same ankle.
Since being selected as a second-round pick from Ohio State, Henderson has faced challenges staying healthy. His on-field performance this season has also been impacted by these health issues, despite an impressive rookie campaign. Through four games, Henderson has accumulated 163 rushing yards on 3.9 yards per carry, with one touchdown.
With Henderson sidelined, veteran running back Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to resume his role as the primary workhorse in the backfield. Rookie Corey Kiner is anticipated to take on the change-of-pace duties.
Kiner demonstrated his capabilities in the game against the Raiders, stepping up after Henderson's departure. He recorded 52 rushing yards on six carries, including a notable 32-yard run, averaging 8.7 yards per carry.
The Patriots currently hold a 3-2 record, and the offense faces increasing pressure to perform, particularly within the competitive AFC East. With Henderson out and wide receiver A.J. Brown still on injured reserve, quarterback Drake Maye will shoulder additional responsibility.
