New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been ruled out for the team's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering an ankle injury. Henderson missed all three practices this week leading up to Wednesday night's game.

Henderson sustained the ankle injury on August 24 and has not practiced since. Center Ben Brown has also been ruled out with a knee injury. No other players have injury designations for the upcoming game.

Last season, Henderson was a finalist for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He led the Patriots in scrimmage yards and touchdowns, recording 911 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per carry and nine touchdowns. He also contributed 35 receptions for 221 yards and one touchdown. As the 39th overall pick in the 2025 draft out of Ohio State, Henderson played in every game during his rookie season. The injury marks a rare period of adversity in his early career.

With Henderson sidelined, veteran Rhamondre Stevenson is anticipated to take on the primary role in the backfield. Stevenson previously assumed this lead-back position during the latter part of New England's playoff run last season.

The Patriots begin their 2026 campaign in Seattle, facing the Seahawks in a rematch of Super Bowl LX. The team will aim for a strong start to the season despite the absence of a key offensive player.
