Patrick Mahomes Sr. Granted Permission to Attend Son's Chiefs Games Amid Probation
The father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will be allowed to travel to home games after a court filing.
Pat Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has received court permission to travel and attend his son's NFL games while serving probation. The elder Mahomes was granted the ability to attend Chiefs home games, though his requests to travel to specific away games were denied.
Mahomes Sr. was arrested in 2024 for felony driving while intoxicated in Texas. As part of his plea agreement, he was sentenced to five years of probation and a year of intensive supervision. Additional terms of his probation include a one-year suspension of his driver's license, completion of community service, and regular drug screening.
According to reports, Mahomes Sr. filed documents with the court seeking permission to attend games in Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Cincinnati. He was permitted to attend games at the Chiefs' home stadium but was denied permission for the recent game in Las Vegas and a scheduled game in Cincinnati in December.
As a condition of his travel, Mahomes Sr. will be required to undergo urine tests with his probation officer before and after each trip. Court filings indicate that he has completed 160 hours of community service and an outpatient treatment program. His probation officer has reported no issues with his alcohol monitoring device or drug and alcohol testing.
Mahomes the quarterback has been performing well this season, surpassing 1,000 passing yards and nine touchdowns. He is returning after recovering from a torn ACL sustained in the previous season.
