Kansas City Chiefs fans have voiced concerns regarding quarterback Patrick Mahomes' recovery from an ACL tear after a video surfaced from training camp. The footage has led some observers to speculate about muscular atrophy in his left leg.

Mahomes sustained the injury late last season, requiring surgery. While he is working towards returning for Week 1, the quarterback's arrival at training camp, particularly his gait and the appearance of his left calf, has drawn scrutiny on social media platforms. Users have commented on the perceived difference in size between his left and right legs, with some suggesting it indicates muscle loss.

One user on X observed, "That gait with the left leg doesn't look too good. Definitely skinnier." Another commented, "Not even trolling I'm glad he's back. But does that left leg look really really thin or is it just me?" A self-identified Doctor of Physical Therapy also noted, "Patrick Mahomes has a skinny leg."

Mahomes has been participating in training camp, though he has been seen wearing a substantial brace on his left leg.

However, head coach Andy Reid stated on Friday that the three-time Super Bowl champion has no restrictions as he progresses in his recovery. "Pat's doing great with his [rehab]," Reid said during a press conference. "Right now he's got clearance to practice and do all the different periods that we have in this camp."

Reid added that the team will monitor his progress daily. "We'll just take it day by day and see how he does. He'll have plenty of eyes on him from coaches to trainers to doctors. But right now, he's been cleared to go ahead and participate fully."

Mahomes expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the field after an offseason dedicated to rehabilitation following surgery on his left knee. "I feel stronger than I've ever felt, as far as strength and lifting," Mahomes told reporters. "I feel amazing... I'm excited just to be able to play football."
