Pat McAfee to Host Alternate Super Bowl LXI Broadcast on ESPN
The popular media personality will bring his signature 'Field Pass' style to the NFL's championship game.
Pat McAfee announced Friday that he will host an alternate broadcast for Super Bowl LXI on ESPN, utilizing his signature "Field Pass" format. This marks the first time McAfee's popular alternate telecast style will be applied to the NFL's championship game.
The broadcast is expected to mirror McAfee's previous "Field Pass" productions, including one for the college football national championship earlier this year. McAfee has become an increasingly prominent figure on ESPN, joining the "Monday Night Countdown" pregame show and maintaining his role on "College GameDay."
This announcement follows Disney+'s confirmation that it will stream ESPN's and ABC's main broadcast of Super Bowl LXI. This will be the seventh consecutive year a Super Bowl will be available on a streaming service.
ESPN was awarded rights to the Super Bowl in 2021 as part of a new media rights deal. The broadcast will feature Joe Buck and Troy Aikman returning to call the game, marking their first Super Bowl assignment since calling Super Bowl LIV for Fox in 2020. The Super Bowl LXI is scheduled to be played on Valentine's Day.
