Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is setting its sights on an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League title this season, a feat that would further cement their place in football history. The club has achieved this remarkable run after years of significant investment.

PSG secured their first Champions League trophy in 2025, defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich. The following year, they successfully defended their title, overcoming Arsenal on penalties in Budapest. This back-to-back success has placed them in a rare echelon of European football.

Only Real Madrid had previously won consecutive Champions League trophies, achieving three in a row between 2016 and 2018. This achievement has eluded even storied clubs such as Pep Guardiola's Barcelona and Manchester City, Alex Ferguson's Manchester United, and various iterations of Bayern Munich.

The ambition for manager Luis Enrique's side this season is to join Real Madrid as the only clubs to win three consecutive European Cups. Historically, only Real Madrid, Ajax, and Bayern Munich managed this in the past. Real Madrid won the first five European Cups from 1956 to 1960, while Ajax and Bayern Munich each secured three titles in a row during the 1970s. Extending the scope to winning three European Cups within a five-year span, Liverpool also achieved this in 1977, 1978, and 1981.

PSG aims to begin their season with a European trophy, mirroring their aspirations for the entire campaign.
