Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Out for Season with Neck Injury

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a neck injury that requires surgery, coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday.

Reed was hospitalized overnight following a frightening hit during the Packers' Week 2 game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. He was carted off the field on a spine board, but medical personnel confirmed he had movement in his extremities.

LaFleur stated that the surgery will sideline Reed for a significant amount of time but expressed optimism that it is not a career-ending procedure. The coach acknowledged the severity of the incident.

"It's tough on him," LaFleur said. "He's a guy that, you know, he wants to be out there and compete. And certainly I think that anytime you go through a situation like that, it's it's a pretty scary deal."

LaFleur described Reed as an "energy guy" who brings a lot to the team and the locker room, adding that he will be missed.

Reed, 26, posted a message on his Instagram account following the injury: "God will use the unusual to do the unexpected… 11 out🙏🏾."

Reed has been a key player for the Packers since entering the league in 2022, catching 119 passes for 14 touchdowns in 23 starts over his first two seasons.
