The Green Bay Packers have placed edge rusher Micah Parsons on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus damage. The injury occurred in December against the Denver Broncos on a non-contact play while pursuing quarterback Bo Nix, requiring surgery and impacting his availability for the start of the upcoming season.

Placing Parsons on the active PUP list allows the team to keep him on the 90-man roster while he is unable to participate in practices. He is expected to be moved to the reserve PUP list before the regular season begins. Under league rules, players on the reserve PUP list must miss a minimum of four games before they are eligible to return to practice or play.

If Parsons is on the PUP list for the start of the regular season, he would miss the Packers' initial matchups against the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His earliest possible return to the field is anticipated to be in October. Parsons himself stated in June that he was still four months away from returning from his injury, with reports suggesting a potential Week 6 return against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, at Lambeau Field.

Despite the significant injury, Parsons expressed optimism about his recovery in a conversation two months after tearing his ACL. He stated that while he initially felt "super nothing" after the injury, he found himself in an "extremely good" headspace. Parsons projected confidence, telling reporters, "Everyone will probably say, ‘Was this guy even injured?’ I’m going to hit the ground running and be the best player on the field."

Parsons had another strong performance in the 2025 season, recording 12.5 sacks. This marked his fifth consecutive season with at least 12 sacks. He also accumulated 41 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles following his trade from the Dallas Cowboys.
