Packers' First Drive Marred by Two Player Injuries

The Green Bay Packers suffered a frightening start to their game, with two key offensive players, wide receiver Jayden Reed and offensive lineman Zach Bako-Bewele, being carted off the field during the opening drive. The incidents cast a somber mood over the team's initial offensive series.

Jayden Reed was taken off on a spine board after a hit from Demario Davis on the second play of the game. The team officially ruled him out with a neck injury. Reed, a fourth-year player and a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had recently signed a three-year contract extension. He had missed 10 games last season due to injury and had accumulated 1,877 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns over his career.

Following Reed's injury, the entire Packers' sideline gathered around him. Reed had caught a screen pass from quarterback Jordan Love for a four-yard gain before the tackle.

Just one play later, Zach Bako-Bewele was also taken off the field in a cart. He was subsequently ruled out with a knee injury and had an air cast on his leg. Bako-Bewele, a 2022 fourth-round selection, was making his 53rd career start for Green Bay. Anthony Belton replaced him on the Packers' next offensive possession.
