Naomi Osaka has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in her career, securing a swift victory over Daria Kasatkina. The former world number one advanced with a decisive 6-1, 6-3 win on Court One.
Osaka, the 14th seed, appeared comfortable on the grass courts, a surface where she has previously expressed challenges compared to hard courts. Her powerful game proved effective against Kasatkina, with the match concluding in just 65 minutes. This marks Osaka's second consecutive Grand Slam fourth-round appearance, following her achievement at Roland Garros less than five weeks prior.
"I definitely felt really good today. I've played a lot of matches on grass for the past two weeks, so I felt really confident," Osaka said following the match. The 28-year-old recently reached her first grass-court final at the Bad Homburg Open, where she retired due to injury, but that experience appears to have bolstered her confidence on the surface. She has yet to drop a set at this year's Wimbledon tournament.
Osaka could face top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the next round, should Sabalenka defeat Jelena Ostapenko later on Friday.
