The Baltimore Orioles have claimed outfielder Luis Robert Jr. off waivers from the New York Mets, according to multiple reports.
Robert Jr.'s departure from the Mets comes as the team works to shed salary. The Orioles will take on the remaining $3 million of Robert Jr.'s contract for 2026, plus a $2 million buyout.
The 29-year-old outfielder was acquired by the Mets from the Chicago White Sox in the offseason. During his time in Queens, Robert Jr. appeared in 58 games, slashing .223/.303/.399 with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs. He has been hampered by injuries throughout his tenure with the Mets.
Baltimore, currently one game behind the Guardians for a Wild Card spot, adds Robert Jr. to their roster as they push for a postseason berth. He joins former Met Pete Alonso in the Orioles' lineup.
