Oregon High School Coach Fired After Humiliating Rival With Onside Kick

Marist Catholic High School in Oregon has fired head football coach Zach Loboy after his team secured a 63-0 victory over rival Cottage Grove. The school cited a need for leadership that better reflects its mission and values.

The decision followed an incident during the game where Loboy's team executed an onside kick in the first half while already holding a commanding 57-0 lead.

The game was reportedly called at halftime due to the lopsided score and the escalating situation. Garrett Bridgens, Cottage Grove's Athletic Director, stated that the decision to halt the game was made in the best interest of the students and fans.

According to reports, the talent disparity between the two teams was significant. Cottage Grove had a 1-8 record last season and had been outscored 105-0 over their previous three games against Marist Catholic.

In a statement, Marist Catholic High School said, "Our priority is to support our players, maintain a positive team environment, and help the team finish the season strong." The school acknowledged that a mid-season coaching change could be difficult for players and families and asked for understanding during the transition.
