Olivia Miles Surpasses Caitlin Clark's Rookie Scoring Record

Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles has set a new WNBA rookie scoring record, surpassing the mark previously held by Caitlin Clark. Miles achieved this milestone with 790 points in 40 games during the Lynx's 101-89 victory over the Connecticut Sun.

Miles' performance eclipses Clark's rookie total of 769 points, which was set in 2024. Both players set their respective records in 40 games, despite the WNBA expanding its schedule to 50 games starting in 2026.

"It’s special, but it means we’re more so working well as a team. I have great teammates around me, great vets who allow me to be me out there," Miles said following the game. "It wouldn’t be possible without one, a coach that believes in you and then two, having teammates that have my back. So it’s really special to obviously be able to accomplish that with such a great team and on a win as well."

This is not the first rookie record Miles has broken this season. In June, she set the record for the most 3-pointers by a rookie in a single game with eight, in a win against the Golden State Valkyries. She also became the fastest rookie to reach 350 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists, achieving the feat in 21 games, one game faster than Clark and former Chicago Sting guard Andrea Stinson. Miles was selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA Draft this past spring. The Lynx currently hold a 32-10 record and are one game ahead of the Golden State Valkyries for first place in the league standings.
