Nottingham Forest is on the verge of appointing Oliver Glasner as their new manager, with the Austrian expected to sign a three-year deal that would position him among the Premier League's best-paid bosses. This potential agreement would also make him the highest-earning coach in Nottingham Forest's history.

Glasner's arrival would mark the fifth managerial change at the City Ground in under a year. The club previously saw Nuno Espírito Santo dismissed after just three games last season. Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche also had brief tenures before Vitor Pereira took over, leading Forest to Premier League survival, only to be subsequently moved on by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Glasner previously managed Crystal Palace, where he achieved significant success. During his tenure at Selhurst Park, he led the club to an FA Cup victory in 2025 and a Conference League title in 2026. However, by the time Palace secured their first European trophy, it was understood to be Glasner's final season with the club.

The Austrian was a candidate for the Forest job in December 2023 when Steve Cooper departed, but the club opted for Nuno Espírito Santo at that time. Glasner's move to Forest could be met with a mixed reception from Palace fans, particularly given the recent Europa League qualification controversy. UEFA's ruling that American businessman John Textor's influence over both Crystal Palace and Lyon prevented them from competing in the same European competition led to Palace being moved to the Conference League, benefiting Nottingham Forest. This past event may still be a point of contention.

Reports suggest that current top earners in the Premier League, including Mikel Arteta if he signs a new Arsenal deal, Unai Emery, Andoni Iraola, Enzo Maresca, and Roberto De Zerbi, are in the £10-12 million annual bracket. Glasner's reported contract terms would place him close to these figures.
