Oklahoma State University is likely to face a significant fine after fans stormed the field and removed the goalposts following a major upset victory over the University of Oregon on Saturday. The jubilant crowd carried the goalposts to Theta Pond, submerging them in the water.

The unranked Oklahoma State Cowboys secured a 39-31 win against the sixth-ranked Oregon Ducks at home, marking one of the season's biggest upsets. Video footage of the goalposts being carried and then thrown into the pond circulated on social media.

According to Front Office Sports, the Big XII conference typically imposes a $50,000 fine for field storming incidents. However, the enforcement of this rule has reportedly been inconsistent. USA Today noted that while Arizona State was fined for a similar celebration last season, a fine for Colorado was rescinded.

The conference's application of the rule appears to be on a case-by-case basis, particularly concerning whether teams adhere to safety procedures before fans rush the field. This celebration was a reaction to one of the most significant wins in recent memory for the Cowboys.

Oregon entered the game as national title contenders, with quarterback Dante Moore considered a top NFL Draft prospect. The Ducks struggled offensively, particularly in the first half. Oklahoma State outgained Oregon in total yardage, 554-281, and sealed the victory with a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Following the loss, Oregon dropped 12 spots in the Coaches Poll, falling from No. 6 to No. 18.
