Oklahoma Dismisses Freshman Wide Receiver Jahsiear Rogers Days Before Red River Rivalry

Oklahoma has dismissed true freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers from the football program, team officials confirmed Thursday. The move comes days before Oklahoma faces Texas in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas.

The university did not provide a reason for Rogers' departure, and he has been removed from the team's roster. Shortly after the news broke, former Oklahoma player and Sooner Radio Network analyst Gabe Ikard posted on X, "If you don't treat the people that pour into the program with the respect they deserve…then there's not [sic] place for you at Oklahoma."

No reason was given for his dismissal, but the move aligns with the strict culture head coach Brent Venables has cultivated in Norman. Venables has consistently enforced rigorous program standards since taking over the team.

Rogers arrived at Oklahoma as a four-star recruit from Appoquinimink High School in Wilmington, Delaware. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver had chosen the Sooners over offers from Alabama, Nebraska, and Penn State. He caught five passes for 70 yards during the spring game. Through the first month of the 2026 season, Rogers logged only six offensive snaps and no receptions.
