Ohio State Ends Indiana's Winning Streak in Thriller
No. 4 Ohio State defeats No. 5 Indiana 19-15, handing the reigning champions their first loss since December 2024.
Ohio State has snapped Indiana's 22-game winning streak, handing the reigning national champions their first football loss since December 2024 with a 19-15 victory on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The win also marked Indiana's first home loss in 19 games.
Despite losing star quarterback Julian Sayin to an injury, the Buckeyes built an early lead. Sayin connected with Bo Jackson for a touchdown late in the first half, putting Ohio State up 10-7. Indiana's lone first-half touchdown came after a Sayin interception, which led to a scoring run by running back Turbo Richard.
The Hoosiers had an opportunity to tie or take the lead in the second half but kicker Nico Radicic missed a field goal. Ohio State extended its lead in the fourth quarter when Heisman frontrunner Jeremiah Smith made a leaping 38-yard touchdown catch, making the score 19-7. Indiana responded with a touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Hoover to receiver Nick Marsh, and a successful two-point conversion cut the deficit to 19-15.
Late in the game, Sayin was sacked and forced out with an injury, forcing Ohio State to turn to freshman quarterback Luke Fahey. Indiana regained possession with just over three minutes remaining but failed to advance the ball. On fourth down, Hoover's pass intended for Marsh was ruled out of bounds, sealing the victory for Ohio State.
