Odell Beckham Jr. Slams Giants After Release

Odell Beckham Jr. has voiced his disappointment with the New York Giants following his release from the team, suggesting he was misled and could have been contributing to another NFL squad this season.

In a series of online posts five days after his departure, the free-agent receiver expressed surprise and frustration with the Giants' decision. "I don't know why they even gave me the run along," Beckham wrote on Instagram. "I could have really been playing this year somewhere and making an impact and I mean that from a person whose humbled by God and life."

Beckham joined the Giants as a training camp invite, aiming to make a roster spot after missing the 2025 season due to a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy. Despite making the 53-man roster and reclaiming his former No. 13 jersey, his time with the team was brief and unproductive. He failed to record a catch and was targeted only once in limited action during the Giants' 3-1 start to the season.

"I'm super smart!!!! But I didn't see this one, my brotha. They got me!!!" Beckham stated, adding, "I came in HUMBLY, took vet min then EARNED my spot and didn't say nothing bout no $$ which I know make for everybody."

His deal was reportedly worth $1.3 million, with approximately $220,000 earned this season. "Now let me tell you the real deal truth that hurt my heart to the core is coming home and seeing my son and how happy he was with no idea of what happened and talkin' about my job and jersey number 13 broke me the f*** down," Beckham continued.

Giants coach John Harbaugh confirmed the decision was difficult but necessary, stating the team was "not getting enough" from Beckham. "It just wasn't working for us," Harbaugh said. "Like I told him, I wanted to be able to get more. I wanted him to be able to do more. I wanted to get him on the field more. For whatever reason, we weren't able to do it, put it on us. We weren't able to get it done."

Harbaugh added, "At this point in time, that's kind of where we were and we needed to move on. I did hope he would get more chances. He didn't. That's where we stood. So, I felt like that being the case, we're not going to be able to get it done. Roster spot wise, we need more out of that spot."

Beckham had previously been cut by Harbaugh in Baltimore four years prior following a disappointing production stint with the Ravens in 2023. "I should have known better," Beckham concluded in his online remarks.
