Norway's World Cup campaign is reportedly experiencing internal friction ahead of their crucial quarter-final match against England. Striker Alexander Sorloth voiced his displeasure after being substituted at halftime during their previous match against Brazil, a decision his father, Goran Sorloth, described as a source of his son's irritation.

Alexander Sorloth, who has been playing out of his preferred center-forward position on the right wing to accommodate Erling Haaland, admitted he was "angry" with manager Stale Solbakken following the substitution. "I talked to Stale afterwards. We're good friends now. But I didn't understand much of it when it happened," Sorloth stated. His father emphasized that his son's frustration stems from his competitive nature and desire to win. "That he gets irritated about being taken off, he should be every day all year round," Goran Sorloth commented.

Despite Sorloth's dissatisfaction, the tactical changes made by Solbakken proved successful, with substitutes Andreas Schjelderup and Oscar Bobb playing roles in Norway's 2-1 victory over Brazil, secured by two goals from Haaland. Solbakken defended his decisions, stating that while no players had performed poorly, the match dynamics necessitated different player roles.

Adding to the team's challenges, a sickness bug has reportedly affected the squad. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland confirmed the issue, suggesting it may have stemmed from a period of time off. "I can confirm that it's true, we've had our issues, we're doing the best we can and the team doctor is very busy at the moment," Nyland said. The team is reportedly hoping for a fully recovered squad for the England match.

Goran Sorloth, who played for Norway more than 50 times, also described the World Cup atmosphere as a "boys trip," highlighting a strong sense of unity among the traveling families and the squad. "It's touching. I get tears in my eyes when I talk about it. There's a unity that's unique considering we're in the World Cup," he remarked.

The tactical approach for the England game remains uncertain, particularly concerning Sorloth's role. England's defense will be tasked with stopping Erling Haaland, and potentially limiting service from the wings could be a key strategy. The winner of the match will advance to face either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals.
