The storm, which began Friday, is currently situated off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey, with its reach extending from Maritime Canada to central Pennsylvania and the Delmarva Peninsula.
Two Sunday games have been directly impacted: the Tennessee Titans at the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks at Washington Commanders.
In New Jersey, MetLife Stadium experienced severe flooding in its parking lot, with viral videos showing portable toilets being swept away by the deluge. The inclement weather, coupled with the Giants' challenging season outlook, contributed to a sharp decline in ticket prices, with some available for as little as $7 less than an hour before kickoff.
Meanwhile, attendance at Northwest Stadium in Maryland for the Seahawks-Commanders game was higher despite the grim conditions. However, the Commanders faced their own challenges with quarterback Jayden Daniels sidelined due to injury.
The storm's impact has been felt beyond the football field. At least one fatality was reported in Brooklyn, where a man was killed by a falling tree. Additionally, more than 130,000 residents along the coast lost power. High tides exacerbated flooding conditions on the Jersey Shore and in New York City.
