No. 3 Notre Dame Dominates Michigan State
Fighting Irish defense limits Spartans to 167 yards in 27-10 victory.
No. 3 Notre Dame extended its unbeaten streak with a 27-10 win over Michigan State on Saturday night in South Bend. The Fighting Irish defense held the Spartans to 167 total yards and forced two turnovers.
Quarterback CJ Carr completed 18 of 24 passes for 234 yards and added a three-yard rushing touchdown that sealed the victory in the fourth quarter. Micah Gilbert was a key receiver for Notre Dame, catching eight passes for 170 yards, including a 61-yard reception. Running back Nolan James Jr. contributed 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while Aneyas Williams also scored rushing.
Notre Dame established an early lead, going up 10-0 in the first quarter with a field goal from Spencer Porath and James' two-yard touchdown run. Michigan State managed to cut the lead to seven points, but Williams extended Notre Dame's advantage before halftime.
Michigan State's lone touchdown came in the second quarter from Cam Fancher on a 15-yard run, making the score 17-10 with 3:21 remaining before halftime. The Spartans were unable to score again for the remainder of the game.
Adon Shuler and Luke Talich each recorded interceptions against Michigan State quarterback Alessio Milivojevic. The loss marked Michigan State's first of the season, bringing their record to 2-1, while Notre Dame improved to 3-0.
