NFL Playoff Odds Shift Dramatically After Week 4; Carnell Tate Rises in OROY Race

Week 4 of the NFL season has significantly reshaped the futures market, impacting playoff odds and award races. The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers have seen their chances of reaching the postseason diminish, while the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings have surged in prominence.

In the Offensive Rookie of the Year race, Tennessee Titans receiver Carnell Tate has emerged as a significant contender. Tate, who began the season as a secondary candidate, has seen his odds tighten considerably after a strong start, including a 145-yard receiving performance in Week 4. His odds have moved from around +900 to approximately +450, positioning him behind only the top favorites.

Awards markets have also experienced shifts. Josh Allen remains the favorite for MVP at roughly +250, with Brock Purdy of the 49ers now in second place at +400 following his team's 4-0 start with 11 touchdowns and one interception. Patrick Mahomes is listed around +650, and Trevor Lawrence has moved into the +800 to +900 range.

On the defensive side, New York Giants linebacker Arvell Reese is climbing the Defensive Player of the Year odds, now around +230, trailing only Miami Dolphins rookie Jacob Rodriguez at approximately +180. Reese had a notable play in Week 4 with an interception.

While Houston and Los Angeles have fallen, Jacksonville and Minnesota have made considerable gains in the playoff market. The Jaguars' playoff odds have jumped from +105 in the preseason to -490 following a 3-1 start, and the Vikings are now -290 after an undefeated 4-0 start. The San Francisco 49ers have moved from -146 to -1000, and the Kansas City Chiefs from -205 to -900 to make the playoffs.

Jacksonville is also now favored to win the AFC South at -250, a significant change from their preseason odds of +245, especially with Houston winless.

The Super Bowl market has also been reshuffled. The Los Angeles Rams have moved to the top at +650 after their victory over the Eagles. The Buffalo Bills are close behind despite their first loss. Baltimore and San Francisco are around +850, followed by Kansas City and Seattle.

The Jaguars have shortened to 15/1 to win the Super Bowl after improving to 3-1. Conversely, Philadelphia has drifted to 24/1 after two consecutive losses. Houston's Super Bowl odds have dropped to 45/1, and the Chargers, having started the season 0-4, are no longer considered contenders.
