Former Brazil international Felipe Melo has claimed that Neymar will sign for Major League Soccer side Inter Miami in January, following the expiration of his contract with Santos.
Melo, who played 22 times for Brazil, stated on YouTube that he spoke with a source close to Santos who informed him of Neymar's impending move to Miami. "He told me Neymar is going to play in Miami. Starting in January, Neymar is going to Miami," Melo said.
The 34-year-old forward's contract at Santos is set to expire in December. Neymar has previously indicated that he might retire from professional football at that time. However, Melo's assertion suggests a potential reunion with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who are already with Inter Miami.
Neymar, Messi, and Suarez formed a prolific attacking trio at Barcelona, known as 'MSN', for three seasons. During their time together, the trio scored a combined 363 goals. They achieved significant success, including winning the Champions League in their first season as a unit.
Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023, and Suarez followed in 2024. Messi has scored 92 goals in 106 appearances for the club, while Suarez has netted 52 times.
Neymar returned to his boyhood club Santos from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in January 2025. He has since scored 14 goals in 29 league appearances for the Brazilian team. Despite these recent performances, Neymar has remained non-committal about his future.
"I'm not thinking about stopping, nor do I know how long I'll carry on," Neymar said in a video posted to his YouTube channel. "I have a contract with Santos until December. I intend to see it through, to honour the Santos shirt as best I can, and then I'll think about it when my contract ends... whether I stay at Santos, move on, stop playing or carry on. I really don't know what I'm going to do."
Neymar retired from international football last month after Brazil's World Cup exit.
