Nebraska and Notre Dame Schedule Future Football Series

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish have announced a future home-and-home football series for the 2032 and 2033 seasons. Notre Dame will visit Lincoln, Nebraska, on Oct. 30, 2032, and Nebraska will travel to South Bend, Indiana, on Oct. 29, 2033.

"The series with Notre Dame is the type of matchup that college football fans circle on their calendars years in advance," Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said in a statement. "Our fans have a tremendous appreciation for the history of college football and iconic venues. We are excited to welcome Notre Dame and their fans to Lincoln in 2032, and I know our fans will travel to South Bend in full force in 2033."

The 2032 game will mark the first meeting between the Cornhuskers and the Fighting Irish since Sept. 8, 2001, when Nebraska defeated Notre Dame 27-10. This series will be only the third time the two programs have played each other since 1948. Historically, Nebraska holds a 8-7-1 advantage over Notre Dame.

Both teams are currently undefeated in the 2026 college football season. Nebraska has secured home victories against the Ohio Bobcats and Bowling Green Falcons. The No. 3 ranked Fighting Irish have defeated the Wisconsin Badgers and the Rice Owls.

Looking ahead in the 2026 season, Nebraska's Big Ten opener is on the road against the Michigan State Spartans. Their remaining schedule includes four teams ranked in the AP Top 25. Notre Dame also faces a challenging schedule with three AP Top-25 ranked opponents remaining: BYU, Miami, and SMU.

Both head coaches, Matt Rhule of Nebraska and Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame, have signed new contracts within the past year. Rhule's Cornhuskers have a combined record of 21-19 since 2023, while Freeman's Fighting Irish have compiled a 45-12 record since he took over as head coach in 2021. Notre Dame reached the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship under Freeman.
