Several stars from the New York Knicks basketball team made an appearance at the U.S. Open men's singles final on Sunday, supporting American contender Ben Shelton in his match against Alexander Zverev.
Josh Hart and his wife, Shannon, were seen on the blue carpet ahead of the final. Hart expressed his support for Shelton on social media, posting "We all Ben Shelton fans today" with an American flag emoji. Landry Shamet and his fiancée, Cameron Aimonetti, were also present. Shamet was seen with his personal camera, which he also used during the Knicks' championship celebrations earlier in the summer. Jalen Brunson and his wife, Ali, accompanied by Jalen's father and coach, Rick Brunson, were also in attendance.
The Knicks contingent, including Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Landry Shamet, had previously been seen together at the men's semifinal match on Friday night between Shelton and Frances Tiafoe.
The group was part of a larger celebrity gathering at the event, which included actors Brad Pitt and Ed Westwick, as well as musicians Benny Blanco and others. The attendees watched to see if Shelton would become the first American man since Andy Roddick in 2003 to win a Grand Slam singles title. Shelton's appearance in the final also marked a significant moment, as he became the first Black man to reach the U.S. Open singles final since Arthur Ashe in 1972. This was also Shelton's first career Grand Slam final.
