NBA Opening Night: Knicks Face 76ers as Handicapper Bets on Philadelphia

The New York Knicks will raise their 2025-26 championship banner on opening night of the NBA season, but a New York Post handicapper is betting on the Philadelphia 76ers to keep the subsequent game close.

The handicapper, known as "Stitches," recommends a $100 bet on the 76ers at +4.5 points against the Knicks, with odds of -110 available on DraftKings.

This prediction comes as the handicapper shifts focus to basketball following the conclusion of baseball's postseason. The handicapper noted a loss on a bet for the Cleveland Guardians to win their series, as the team was eliminated in Game 6 of the ALCS by the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays secured their victory with a 7-3 score, highlighted by five and a third innings of one-run pitching from Freddy Peralta and home runs from Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz.

New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson (11) drives past Toronto Raptors’ Immanuel Quickley (5) during the second half of a preseason NBA basketball game Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, in New York.

Earlier in the week, the handicapper also experienced a setback with a $100 bet on the 49ers to win, despite their 23-17 victory over the Commanders, due to an abundance of penalties in the game. The handicapper indicated a total loss of $1,195.

The New York Post betting section features "Stitches," who has been handicapping baseball for the publication since 2019 and won the Post's NFL Best Bet crown in the previous year, demonstrating versatility across sports.
