Morgan Gibbs-White's Partner Slams England Boss Tuchel Over Omission

Morgan Gibbs-White's partner, Britney De Villiers, has publicly questioned Thomas Tuchel's decision to overlook the Nottingham Forest midfielder for the latest England squad. De Villiers shared a statistic on Instagram indicating that Gibbs-White is the sole player to have created more than five chances in a single Premier League match this season, a performance metric that appears to have been missed by the England manager.

Gibbs-White faces stiff competition for the attacking midfield role, with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, and Eberechi Eze being selected ahead of him for the upcoming international fixtures. This latest omission follows his exclusion from last summer's World Cup squad, which also drew criticism given his standing as the top-scoring English player in the Premier League during the previous season.

Tuchel, speaking from Wembley, defended his selection strategy, stating that it "makes no sense" to include more than three players primarily operating as No. 10s in his squad. He justified Gibbs-White's absence by this rationale.

This is not the first instance of a player's family publicly voicing their displeasure with Tuchel's selection choices. Following Harry Maguire's unexpected omission from the World Cup squad, his mother, Zoe, expressed her "disgust" on social media. Maguire himself conveyed his shock and disappointment, believing his season's performances merited a place in the squad, and he wished the selected players well.

Maguire's brothers also weighed in on the controversy, with Joe calling it "the worst decision I've ever seen" and Laurence describing the situation as a "shambles."
