Trabzonspor has initiated transfer negotiations with former Liverpool forward Mo Salah, with the Turkish club anticipating a two-year deal. The Egyptian international is scheduled to arrive at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on Wednesday, August 5, before traveling to Trabzon later that evening.

While Besiktas was reportedly Salah's preferred choice, talks with that club stalled last week. Trabzonspor announced the commencement of negotiations via their official X account, stating that the player's arrival details would be shared through the club's official channels. The club also shared an AI-generated video transitioning from pyramids to their stadium, Papara Park.

Salah's future has been a subject of speculation since his departure from Liverpool was announced in March, despite having one year remaining on his contract extension. A substantial £150 million offer from Saudi club Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 had previously suggested a move to Saudi Arabia.

Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Turkish league last season, are now poised to sign the winger. Salah, Liverpool's third-highest goalscorer with 255 goals, had refrained from engaging in talks with other clubs before the end of the season out of respect to Liverpool. His agent, Ramy Abbas, had consistently maintained that no decisions had been made.

Salah's performance dipped in his last season with Liverpool, scoring 10 goals compared to 34 the previous campaign. He played a key role in Liverpool's Premier League title win during his second English championship, but his overall level decreased in the most recent season. Salah is recognized for his professionalism and commitment to maintaining a high level of performance into his thirties.
