Jacob Misiorowski established a new Milwaukee Brewers franchise record by striking out the first seven batters he faced on Sunday, contributing to an 11-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The dominant start was part of a performance that saw him strike out 12 batters over five innings, allowing only one hit and one run.

Misiorowski's opening seven consecutive strikeouts marked the first time since 1920 that a pitcher recorded 11 strikeouts with no hits allowed through the first four innings of a game, according to CBS Sports. The previous Brewers record for consecutive strikeouts to begin a game was set just 311 days prior, when Quinn Priester struck out six straight against the Angels on September 18, 2025. The MLB record for consecutive strikeouts to start a game is held by Pablo Lopez, set in 2021.

The right-hander was removed after 83 pitches to manage his workload for the remainder of the season. Misiorowski's fastball consistently exceeded 100 mph, with his fastest pitch recorded at 104.7 mph during the game. He has previously thrown the fastest pitch by a starting pitcher in the modern era at 105.5 mph. One of his pitches was hit for a solo home run by Cole Carrigg, which traveled 361 feet.

"The Miz," as he is known, entered the game with a league-leading 38 percent whiff rate and a 39 percent strikeout rate. His performance on Sunday increased his MLB-leading strikeout total to 185. Despite his strong outing, his earned run average slightly increased to 1.58, as he continues to build his case for the National League Cy Young Award.
