A video circulating online shows the Sacramento River Cats mascot, Dinger, colliding with Oklahoma City Comets outfielder Alek Thomas while riding a scooter on the field. The incident occurred Saturday during a game at Sutter Health Park.
During the "Christmas in July Day" festivities, Dinger, dressed in a Santa hat and coat, was riding a scooter along the first base side of the field between innings. As Dinger neared the dugout, Thomas, a prospect for the Dodgers, began jogging out to the outfield, and the two collided.
The video clip shows both Dinger and Thomas falling to the ground after the impact. A stadium worker and an individual from the Comets dugout were seen approaching to check on them.
Reports indicate that Thomas did not leave the game following the collision and was in the lineup for the Comets' game on Tuesday against the Las Vegas Aviators. The video initially surfaced on Reddit before gaining widespread attention on X and Instagram.
