The Minnesota Twins have officially promoted their top organizational prospect, outfielder Walker Jenkins, to the major league roster. Jenkins is slated to make his big league debut on Friday night against the Chicago White Sox, marking a significant step in the Twins' ongoing shift toward a youth-focused strategy.
Jenkins, selected fifth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, was considered one of the premier prep hitters in his draft class. He currently holds the top spot in the Twins' farm system and ranks No. 15 on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospects list.
His promotion follows the recent call-up of top infielder Kaelon Culpepper and signals the Twins' commitment to developing their young talent. Jenkins joins a lineage of high draft picks for the Twins who have reached the major leagues, including outfielder Byron Buxton (selected second overall in 2012) and infielder Royce Lewis (selected first overall in 2017).
During his minor league career, the 6-foot-3 outfielder has demonstrated consistent production. Across 265 games and 997 at-bats, Jenkins has recorded a .303 batting average, 33 home runs, 145 RBIs, and 57 stolen bases.
The Twins are building a young core that includes Jenkins and Culpepper, alongside other promising prospects such as 2026 No. 3 overall pick Vahn Lackey and 2025 first-round infielder Marek Houston. The team is currently 6.5 games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox in the American League Central standings as they navigate this transitional period.
