Mikel Arteta Signs Contract Extension with Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new contract with Arsenal that is expected to extend his tenure as manager beyond ten years. The announcement comes after Arteta led the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 seasons during the 2025-26 campaign.

Arteta, who took over from Unai Emery in December 2019, is already the longest-serving manager in the Premier League. His leadership has been credited with revitalizing the team and returning them to Champions League contention. His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.

The terms of the new agreement include a significant increase in his annual salary, which was reportedly £10 million per year, along with a performance-based bonus package. This new deal aims to provide stability and resolve any uncertainty about his future at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta had previously expressed his commitment to the club, stating in August that he was "extremely happy" and "very grateful" to be working with the current team and staff. Co-chairman Josh Kroenke had identified securing Arteta's future as a priority earlier in the year.

Before this extension, Arteta was already recognized as the highest-paid manager in the Premier League and one of the top-earning managers globally. During his time at Arsenal, the former player has secured four trophies, including the FA Cup in his debut season and the Community Shield. His side had maintained a perfect winning record this season until a recent 3-0 loss to Brighton.
