Mike Francesa Questions Jets' Bizarre Social Media Post During Loss
The sports radio legend expressed disbelief at the New York Jets' decision to hype a player's performance during a significant defeat.
Sports radio personality Mike Francesa has weighed in on a peculiar social media post made by the New York Jets during their Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Jets' official account highlighted running back Braelon Allen's four consecutive carries for 26 yards at the start of the second half, a moment when the team was trailing 13-3.
Francesa, appearing on NBC Sports' "Fanta in 60," initially questioned the authenticity of the post. "I’m not familiar with this. You’re saying the Jets themselves … Now, I don’t know if that’s real or not. In this day and age, we don’t know what’s real or what’s not," he stated. He went on to add, "But if it is real and that’s the first I’ve seen of it, let me just explain one thing to you as someone who has been around the Jets, viewed the Jets, and know the Jets very well – the Jets can screw up a one-car funeral."
He described the team as "terribly run – from the owner on down," and said that "nothing they would do that is stupid would ever surprise me." Francesa reiterated his skepticism about the post's veracity, noting the current difficulty in discerning real from fake information. However, he concluded that if the post was indeed real, "nothing they would do would ever surprise me."
The post in question remained active on X as of Wednesday. The Jets' social media activity occurred during a game where they were significantly outplayed by the Bears, who held the ball for 42 minutes and 15 seconds compared to the Jets' 17 minutes and 15 seconds. Chicago ran 89 plays to New York's 32.
Chicago linebacker Devin Bush reportedly called it one of the "easiest" games he had played. The Jets, currently 1-3 on the season, are set to host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
