Miami Survives Florida State in Double Overtime Thriller

No. 3 Miami narrowly escaped an upset bid from Florida State, defeating the Seminoles 43-35 in a double-overtime classic on Saturday. The victory keeps Miami’s unbeaten season intact, while Florida State continues to struggle.

Miami quarterback Darian Mensah was instrumental in the win, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns. His final scoring pass, a 3-yard connection to Malachi Toney in the second overtime, ultimately sealed the victory for the Hurricanes. Toney also contributed a two-point conversion pass to Cooper Barkate, and defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald secured the win with an interception on the final play.

Florida State mounted a significant comeback, with quarterback Ashton Daniels contributing 298 yards and four touchdowns. Duce Robinson was a key offensive player for the Seminoles, scoring two late touchdowns, including a 75-yard reception that tied the game in regulation and a 20-yard score in the first overtime.

Despite the spirited effort, Florida State’s challenges away from home continue. The Seminoles have now lost 14 consecutive games away from Tallahassee and hold an 0-13 record in true road games against ranked opponents since 2017. Head coach Mike Norvell has faced persistent speculation regarding his job security amid the team's recent performance.

Miami's win extends their unbeaten run, while Florida State’s season is marked by close losses and continued road struggles.
