New York Mets superstars Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor have addressed recent reports suggesting tension between them, with both players and owner Steve Cohen indicating that their relationship has improved.

Cohen confirmed to the New York Post that there were issues between the players, but he believes they are now on much better terms. "Frankly, I think that’s a story that was last year’s story," Cohen said. "I am told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better. And so, I just don’t see that as an issue anymore."

Following Cohen's comments, both Soto and Lindor were asked about their dynamic. Soto offered a colorful comparison to describe their developing relationship. "When you meet a girl, you don’t start kissing her right away," he told The Athletic. Despite this analogy, Soto also stated that there were "no issues" between them.

Lindor echoed sentiments of respect and growing camaraderie. "The more time we spend together, it’s only natural that our relationship continues to grow," he told the outlet. "We’ve been teammates for two years now. Time has been on our side. I have nothing but respect for him. He’s my brother. He’s somebody I respected from a distance and respect here, inside."

Reports had circulated about friction between the two players during their first year as teammates, coinciding with a disappointing season for the Mets. Some speculation suggested potential clubhouse issues, including reports of their lockers being moved to opposite ends of the clubhouse. However, Lindor downplayed the notion of recent "hard conversations," stating they talk daily about baseball and other topics as teammates focused on winning.

Lindor joined the Mets in 2021, signing a long-term extension shortly after becoming one of the faces of the franchise. Soto was acquired later and signed a record-breaking 15-year contract. The two have played only 15 games together this season due to injuries, but they are expected to be teammates through the 2032 season.
