The New York Mets secured a hard-fought 7-6 victory against the Atlanta Braves in extra innings on Monday, splitting their four-game series. The win came after a dramatic turn of events, including a blown save in the ninth inning by Devin Williams and a clutch two-run double by Luis Torrens in the 10th to seal the victory.

Williams entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead but surrendered a game-tying home run to Matt Olson. Following Olson's blast, which came after Ozzie Albies’ leadoff double, the Braves put runners on second and third with two outs. Williams was then removed from the game, and reliever Brooks Raley struck out José Azócar to end the threat.

Before Monday's comeback, the Mets had struggled in games where they trailed after eight innings, with a record of 1-45 this season, compared to going 0-67 in such situations last year.

In the top of the ninth, Francisco Alvarez and Ronny Mauricio singled against Raisel Iglesias. With two outs, Juan Soto hit a go-ahead home run over the right-field fence off a 95-mph fastball, putting the Mets ahead.

The Mets overcame early defensive miscues and runners being thrown out on the basepaths. Jared Young's error at first base in the second inning led to two unearned runs. Additionally, Bo Bichette was thrown out at home attempting to score from first in the sixth, and A.J. Ewing was caught trying to advance from second on a line drive in the seventh.

Mets pitcher Freddy Peralta lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (two unearned) on six hits while striking out six and walking one. He threw 103 pitches, departing after Carson Benge’s leadoff homer in the second gave the Mets a 1-0 lead. However, the Braves responded in the bottom of the inning with two unearned runs after Young's misplay of a ground ball. Jim Jarvis drove in the first run with a bloop single, and Michel Harris II added the second with a single.

Atlanta extended its lead to 3-1 in the third inning when Olson hit his 23rd home run of the season off a changeup from Peralta. The Mets managed to pull within 3-2 in the sixth on an RBI single by Alvarez, but their potential rally was cut short when Bichette was thrown out at home.

Luke Weaver ultimately secured the final three outs for the Mets, extending his streak to 26 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run since May 1. Only the automatic runner scored against him in the 10th, resulting in an unearned run.
