The New York Mets have scratched right-handed pitcher Freddy Peralta from his scheduled Friday night start against the Miami Marlins, according to a report by the New York Post. This move comes as Peralta, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, is rumored to be drawing interest from several teams.

Teams reportedly showing interest in Peralta include the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, and Tampa Bay Rays. The MLB trade deadline is set for Aug. 3.

Peralta, a two-time All-Star, joined the Mets this season and has made 22 starts. He holds a 4.99 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP through 113 ⅔ innings pitched, with 113 strikeouts. Last season with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he played for eight seasons, Peralta recorded a career-best 2.70 ERA.

The Mets acquired Peralta and pitcher Tobias Myers from the Brewers in June in a trade that sent infielder Jett Williams and pitcher Brandon Sproat to Milwaukee. Williams was the No. 14 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and is ranked as Milwaukee's No. 5 prospect, while Sproat was the No. 56 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Earlier this season, the Mets traded left-hander David Peterson to the Chicago Cubs and sent reliever A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins. Other Mets players mentioned in trade rumors include relievers Luke Weaver and Huascar Brazobán, starting pitcher Clay Holmes, and outfielder Luis Robert Jr.

The Mets currently hold a 47-63 record, placing them last in the National League East.
