Mets relief pitcher Reed Garrett experienced a mix of nerves and excitement last Saturday as he took a significant step in his recovery, throwing off the mound to hitters for the first time since undergoing internal brace elbow reconstruction surgery in October. The session took place at the team's complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida, while the major league club was playing the Giants in Queens.
Garrett, who also had a bone spur removed during the procedure, told The Post that his elbow now feels "13 again." The successful mound session marks a pivotal moment in his rehabilitation process, bringing him closer to rejoining the team on the field. He had been nearly 1,200 miles away from his teammates when he participated in the workout at Clover Park.
