Billy Amick, a prospect recently acquired by the New York Mets, is in the midst of an impressive home run tear in Double-A. Amick hit his fifth home run in seven games on Sunday, contributing to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ 4-3 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats. This latest blast, a three-run homer in the sixth inning, broke a 1-1 tie and ultimately helped secure the win.

Since joining the Mets organization on July 31 in a trade that sent pitcher A.J. Minter to the Twins, Amick has made a significant impact. The infielder has driven in 13 runs for the Rumble Ponies and has now connected for 28 home runs at the Double-A level in 2026. His prowess at the plate earned him the nickname “Billy Barrels.”

"It was a fun week for sure. Everybody was getting on base and we were all having good at-bats," Amick said in a postgame interview on the field. "Everything kind of came together. Ended up with six wins, so that’s all you can ask for." Following his home run on Sunday, Amick received two Gatorade showers in celebration.

The 23-year-old Amick was originally selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He played collegiately for both Clemson and Tennessee. In 2025, his season was limited to 59 games due to injuries.

The Rumble Ponies are currently on a seven-game winning streak. The team is scheduled to begin a six-game series with Portland after a day off on Monday.
