New York Mets owner Steve Cohen has confirmed that a feud existed between star outfielder Juan Soto and shortstop Francisco Lindor during the previous season.

Cohen addressed the long-rumored tension between the players in comments made to the New York Post, stating that while the issue was present last year, it has since been resolved.

"I am told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better," Cohen said. "And so, I just don't see that as an issue anymore."

The Mets acquired Soto in 2024, signing him to a record-breaking contract after he departed the rival New York Yankees. Despite his individual success, the team has struggled significantly, currently holding one of the worst records in baseball in 2026.

Last season, the Mets failed to make the playoffs after a significant investment in Soto. The team recently fired manager Carlos Mendoza with a 34-47 record this season.

Cohen also dismissed any speculation regarding the potential departure of either player. Soto is under contract for another 13 years on his 15-year deal, while Lindor has six years remaining on his 10-year contract.

"I don’t see them going anywhere," Cohen stated. "I'm lucky enough to have two high-quality players like that and with the elimination of whatever issues there were last year, I'm thrilled that they’re on the team."

Lindor recently returned to the lineup after a two-month absence due to a calf injury. Soto has had a strong individual season for the Mets, batting with a .971 OPS and hitting 17 home runs.
