Weston McKennie, a key midfielder for the U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT), continued the team's World Cup celebration on their bus following a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The win secured the USA's spot in the Round of 32.
Hours after the match, McKennie shared a video on his Instagram story showing him playing music for his teammates. While traditional victory anthems like "Take Me Home, Country Roads" have become customary for the USMNT, McKennie opted for country artist Ella Langley's hit "Choosin' Texas." He was seen holding a portable speaker and encouraging his teammates to join in.
Several players, including Tyler Adams and Antonee Robinson, were seen participating in the song. Even Christian Pulisic, initially appearing to rest, was drawn into the celebration when McKennie called out his name.
McKennie, who considers Little Elm, Texas, his hometown, was also active in pre-game fan celebrations. Earlier, he joined U.S. supporters in singing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" after it played over the stadium speakers following the match. He was observed hyping up the crowd by waving his arms and singing along.
The victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina was marked by a 2-0 scoreline, despite a controversial second-half red card issued to forward Florian Balogun. The team will now advance to a Round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle. Balogun will be suspended for this upcoming game due to the red card, and there is no appeals process available for the federation to overturn the decision.
