Matheus Cunha's Late Goal Rescues Manchester United Against Fulham

Fulham's Matheus Cunha scored a crucial late goal to salvage a draw for Manchester United, preventing them from falling to a defeat against Fulham. The equalizer came in the dying moments of the match.

Despite an early save from Bernd Leno to deny Lisandro Martinez and a scramble when Cunha's effort struck the post, Fulham couldn't hold on for the win. Leno had also made a full-length save to deny Bryan Mbeumo.

Fulham's defensive efforts were led by players like David Affengruber, who provided a defense-splitting pass to Josh King early on, though King couldn't convert. Affengruber also made a crucial intervention near the goalline to dispossess Cunha. Calvin Bassey played a role in Fulham's goal and also pushed forward. Antonee Robinson, positioned in an advanced forward role, caused defensive issues for the visitors.

In midfield, Sander Berge's shot from the edge of the area was turned away, and Shea Charles' partnership with Berge was instrumental in protecting the Fulham defense during periods of sustained Manchester United possession. Charles' passing accuracy, however, was inconsistent at times.

Oscar Bobb had an effort that rolled just wide, and Gonzalo Garcia was close to a tap-in from an Alex Iwobi cross. Iwobi himself attempted to exploit the left channel when Fulham attacked, delivering crosses that nearly created chances.

For Manchester United, Senne Lammens made key saves in the first half and bravely came out to deny Iwobi. However, his distribution was found wanting, and he could not be entirely credited for preventing Fulham's goal.

Diogo Dalot attempted to create a chance for Marcus Rashford but faced significant defensive work due to a lack of cover. Harry Maguire used his experience to draw a foul near his own goal, helping to manage Fulham's pressure. Lisandro Martinez's well-struck half-volley tested Leno, but he also inadvertently scored at the wrong end.

Luke Shaw returned from a three-match absence, bringing balance to the side. Youri Tielemans wasted a clear opportunity, failing to generate power behind his shot. Kobbie Mainoo played a tidy game in possession without making key passes, appearing composed throughout.

Bryan Mbeumo made strong runs but, like many of Manchester United's forwards, was not at his best and his defensive contribution to support Dalot was questioned. Bruno Fernandes hit the post with a low shot from a Cunha cut-back, but his performance was noted as not reaching last season's levels. Marcus Rashford attempted to set up Tielemans, but the Belgian couldn't finish. An earlier attempt by Rashford was saved by Leno, and another effort went over the bar.

Matheus Cunha, starting in a role he appears less suited for, created a chance for Fernandes and was the visitors' most dangerous forward. His deflected shot hitting the post was a key moment before his late equalizer.
