The Houston Texans have acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals, head coach DeMeco Ryans announced Sunday. The trade reunites Harrison Jr. with his former Ohio State teammate, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The Cardinals are sending Harrison Jr. and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Houston in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. The Cardinals had reportedly been seeking a second-round pick for the receiver.

Harrison Jr. was informed earlier in the week that he would not play in the Cardinals' Week 5 game against the Detroit Lions due to the finalization of a deal. He has had a limited role under new head coach Mike LaFleur this season and had been speculated as a trade candidate.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed the trade following Houston's 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Harrison Jr., the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, was drafted by the Cardinals with the No. 4 overall pick in 2024. His rookie season saw him record 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. Last year, he had 41 catches for 608 yards and four touchdowns.

This season, Harrison Jr. has five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown. The Texans, who started the season 1-4 prior to their win against the Titans, also lost Jayden Higgins to an ACL injury during training camp.
