Marina Mabrey of the Toronto Tempo has tied the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points in a decisive 125-94 win against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. Mabrey's performance marks the third instance in WNBA history where a player has achieved this scoring milestone, joining A'ja Wilson and Liz Cambage.

Mabrey also contributed to the Tempo setting a franchise record for highest single-game point total. She scored 27 points by halftime and added 12 more in the third quarter, reaching 39 points before the final period. During the fourth quarter, Mabrey hit nine three-pointers, propelling the Tempo to their historic offensive output.

With approximately two minutes remaining in the game, Mabrey secured the record-tying points. Though her subsequent three-point attempts did not fall, she was substituted out of the game with just over a minute left, receiving a standing ovation from the home crowd.

Mabrey acknowledged her teammates' role in her record-tying performance. "None of this happens without my teammates. They really found me," she stated in a post-game interview. "For a three-point shooter, you need your teammates to set screens and deliver the pass, and that’s what they did."

The Toronto Tempo, an expansion team in its inaugural season, has relied on Mabrey as a key player. Last week, she set a franchise record with 37 points in a single game, a record now surpassed by her 53-point performance.

Mabrey's final statistics for the game included 17-of-28 field goals and 9-of-18 three-pointers, in addition to six rebounds and two assists. Her sister, Michaela Mabrey, who also played collegiately at Notre Dame, was in attendance for the historic game, sharing a congratulatory moment on the court after the final buzzer.

The Tempo's victory over the Sparks was their most dominant offensive performance of the season. The team's ability to score 125 points underscores their offensive potential, with Mabrey leading the charge.
